OUT OF THE CLOSET, I LOVE EDWARD!!

Yes, another post! I was going to do one GIANT post yesterday and decided to break them up into three separate ones since they differ so much. This is just for fun!

I'm much too old for this stuff, seriously!
I bought the book Twilight only because it was on every stupid end cap at Borders right before our trip to Ethiopia! It looked nice and big to carry me through the long flight. Well, I never got past page one the entire trip as I couldn't think of anything but our girl and everything else. On the flight I couldn't even watch one of my favorite movies "Out of Africa" (what are the odds)!

After coming home and seeing "Cool Jules" totally obsessed with this whole series I thought, " I should read it when I have a spare minute." Well, low and behold, serious illness knocked and apparently I answered. When you're in and out of bed for the better part of five weeks you have some free time! And so it began...

I opened up Twilight and read it in THREE DAYS! A first for me because it typically takes me months to read small books! I can only read a few pages at a time before falling asleep!

During day two of reading Twilight I quickly realized that I had to have the second book before I was done so that I could start it right away.... So, me and my Kleenex took a field trip crusty nose and all (practically in my bathrobe.) The most horrible part was that I couldn't find it anywhere in the store and looked it up on their computer, guess where it was... the Young Adult section - I'm pathetic! And so, New Moon began... I was devasted by this one.

I should have learned my lesson and just bought the whole series when I ventured out but I didn't. Later that day I hit Amazon for my purchase of the next two in the series as it only took another three days to read New Moon.

Breaking Dawn did not disappoint and I was all bug eyed reading most of it - especially Isle Esme!

It ended up taking me two weeks to read all four and the last one was over 700 pages. MP LOVED my obsession because it kept me off his back and gave him plenty of weekend time to watch whatever he wanted on TV at night without the typical compromise/bickering! No pestering about how long the lawn was going to take, no nagging about taking us out to lunch! None of it! I was 100% committed and even read while cooking dinner for the little monsters.

And now, Cool Jules is going to a post production party because her husband Marshall worked on the film! Tonight she may very well meet some of the actors from the film. In short, I hate Julie!

I'm never like this and haven't had a crush on a fictional character since Don Johnson in Miami Vice, and Tom Cruise in Risky Business (around the eight grade - I'm almost 37 now folks)... I feel like a twelve year old and almost cried when I finished the last book. I've even resorted to re-reading Twilight while cross reading the Midnight Sun book which Stephenie Meyer wrote (partially) and posted online only. Midnight sun is Twilight from Edwards perspective (love it.)

Twilight the film opens on November 21st and I'm trying to decide how and with whom I was to see it! I hope Michelle or Rhonda get around to reading/loving it too so we go together. Rhonda, I still owe you dinner and a movie, remember!!!

I need to be stopped! My obsession is out of control! There! I admitted it, I feel better.

And if you don't have anything nice to say, don't leave a comment! :)

My Edward...

  1. Pretty sure we're gonna have to fight over him! (Don't worry, I'm kind of a whimp!) I even did a post called "I'm in Love With a 17-year-old" and deleted it because I thought people may think I'm crazy!!

  3. I'm not sure who that last comment was directed at but anyways..I would love to go to the movies with you Lor- I'll have to read it first though. My thirteen year old said I could borrow her copy when she's done- Posting comments is so fun!

  4. LOVED this post!!! And yes, I'm too old to be this obsessed about a book. (read it three times in a row! and Midnight Sun twice) For the record, the author never intended it to be a book for "Young Adults". She wrote it for herself and her sister.

The director told Marshall her 80 year old mother in a nursing home is reading it in her old lady book club!!! (make you feel better?)

LOL at the Isle Esme reference!!!

Anyway, if Edward is at the party tonight, I'll tell him you said hello. :)

    Stop hating on me!!! :)

  5. I am on countdown for this movie too...though I am afraid that it won't meet my vivid mind pictures.

It took me 2 solid weeks to read them and I am still separating from my loss of Edward.

    Happy reading!

  7. You are so funny!! EVERYONE is talking about these books. I hope to start reading them soon. I am skeptical about being that into them, but it seems most people that love them are skeptical too. :)

  9. Your are too funny. I read it and made Eliza read it. Now all her friends have read them at least once. (Eliza has read them each 3 times.) Hope that you are feeling better.

  10. All I've heard about are these Twilight books. So, ok, I guess I must give in and finally read them :) I've heard only good things...must read before the movie comes out!

  11. The Twilight series is all my 14 year old can talk about. Don't hate her but she is team Jacob. (not that I know what that means but Jules asked me if she had read the last book -- as in, is she crazy!) U2 was my only real obsession I think and it still resurfaces every so often...

  12. Girl, you have me convinced to go and buy the first book! I love love love to read a good series. I am obsessed with the Harry Potter collection, so I think I was made for young adult/adolescent books. Ha ha!

  13. Cool Jules gave me the Twilight bug too. I read Twilight in a day and a half. I am now reading New Moon. I am absolutely and completely in love with a vampire! I was thinking of taking my husband to the movie so he could see how he should act (minus drinking deer and bear blood, of course). :)

    Team Edward!

  14. Ok, I just found your blog through...I don't even know where! I think from Soli Deo Gloria. Anyways, I just had to comment because although I am 28, I too am in love with this Series, these books, that Edward! Ugh! Love him. I want my own Edward! Ok, so I am on the last book and trying to get it finished. I just am having a hard time finding the time. I am in a bookclub and all of us women fell in love with them too. So just know that here in Colorado, there are grown women drooling over Edward too!

ps not sure if the people they used for Edward and Bella in the movie really fit the ones described in the book. Hmm, oh well, can't wait to see it!

  15. I am SOOOOOO with ya! I started it because someone else blogged on it and read all three books in 3 days! Yes, I have a lot of time on my hands, but what is a waiting mom to do?
    I loved them!

  17. i am glad that you are obsessed over these books as I am. I LOVE EDWARD!!! I am a little nervous to see the movie because I am pretty sure that a man that perfect doesn't exist (let alone, a 17 yr old) but I am sure I will see it on opening night and fall in love all over again. :)

  19. ditto, ditto, ditto. found your blog from kevin & stacie. had to read the post about Twilight, since you mentioned it in the most recent. i also posted about my love affair with the series recently on my blog. i also teared up at the end of Breaking Dawn. i read Midnight Sun and can't wait till it gets published. i do hope the second movie is better than the first. i was a bit disappointed. especially with the actress who played Bella. not at all how i pictured her. maybe she'll mature as an actress for the rest of the movies. anyway, i felt a bit like a 12 year old admitting i like the books (okay, LOVE the books...and edward) but i've found i'm not the only one. phew. great blog, by the way.
