Ok, so people have questions and I've thought through this whole thing a little more. What I'm thinking is that we set a goal of June to get either one hundred or two hundred families involved. That would secure that we can dig one or two wells in Ethiopia. To keep it easier than having people donate to paypal directly to charity water now, I'd like to just compile a list of families (see sidebar) until we reach our goal. When we do, we'll send the funds all at one time to charity: water to make sure there is no confusion and they can allocate it directly to our wells and get moving on it! Make sense? To anyone that wants to get letters and or dvd's about charity: water, let me know and I can send them to you. This way you can mail them to family and friends outside of our wonderful adoption community! Also, lets come up with a name for our well(s)!! These will not be my wells, they are OUR WELLS!! And we can do it! We will see it happen - glory be!

And I will stop at nothing to promote this project. Many of you know that I'm not stranger to embarrassment and I plan to exercise my stupidity and humor to get families on board! Trust me, times are tough for my family too. I have no current work. But I know I can swing $50!

  1. So proud of you Lori. Way to throw it out there and make a difference. I think this is a wonderful way to honor our kiddos from Ethiopia and make a lifelong difference in the lives of so many.

  2. Hey Lori...
Good stuff. You need to check out Jody Landers and ALL she is doing with Charity Water too. She is the one who organized Water 4 Christmas and is now doing 300 Voices with Charity water. Exact same idea and maybe there could be a partnership of sorts for you guys.

Check her. :) She posts really often (usually more than once a day) so you might have to go to some archives to read all her posts about Water, but maybe not because she posts about water TONS too. :)

  4. Hi Lori...my name is Jessica. I have read your blog before and enjoy your posts very much. I found you through Emily, who is basically the big sister I never had. :0) I am going to show this video to my husband as soon as he gets home and we will decide how much we can donate. I have several family members through adoption (including precious Abe) and am sure we will one day adopt. I don't know if it will be from Ethiopia, but I was supposed to go with the Alexanders when they went (wedding stuff got in the way) and feel like I still want to travel to Africa one day and see the country of Ethiopia myself. I think it is wonderful that you explained the mission of charity water and feel confident you can raise the money! I am praying you can be there as well, to see the people drill their well. :0)

PS--I am totally in love with Twilight as well. :0)
